SOS123: oldest ribbon or fibers

we're tying one on this week at shopping our stash and you're invited to join us! just go grab your oldest ribbon, lace or fibers and use them in a project! i chose fibers, generally, and i used these suuuuuuuuper-old basic grey ones, specifically:

(vintage new york street map; expired metrocard, heart charm from a garage sale; basic grey fibers; pebbles letter stickers; making memories alphabet rub-ons; skyscraper border stickers so old they don't even have a manufacturer's label; mrs. grossman's star stickers)
i may have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating: I LOVE WRAPPING PRESENTS!!! however there's one downside i've noticed about really fancy wrapping, and that's the fact that if the the gift looks reallllly cool, sometimes people don't want to open it! one solution-- the one i've employed here-- is to wrap the top and bottom of the box separately. in this case, the bottom of the box (which once held a starbucks mug) was already a fun funky green, so all i had to do was decorate the top. i used gluestick to attack the map, neatly trimming the sides and inside edges before tucking them in. then came the best part: embellishments! i ran some ancient (but still cool) border stickers around the lower edge of the box lid, glammed up an old metro card, and went crazy with fibers to hold the whole thing together!

now why not hop over to shopping our stash and see the most together bunch of awesome crafters i know... then start planning YOUR project for this week!

  1. I would totally be one of those people that didn't want to open one of your fabulously wrapped presents. I'd be all like, "Ooooooh, a wonderfully decorated box! I love it!! Thanks!"
